FAQs

Everything you need to know before your first session.

Thinking about joining? Below are the answers to the questions we get asked most often. Anything not covered, please get in touch here:

1. What age groups do you cater for?

Parakeets Football is for girls aged 4 to 7 years old which covers school years from Reception to Year 2.

2. Where do your sessions take place?

We have 2 venues. Orleans Park School in Twickenham and Hampton Wick Cricket Club in Bushy Park, Hampton Wick which is due to open soon.

3. What kit will my daughter need?

School PE kit is fine. Alternatively, a t-shirt/top and shorts or track suit bottoms will suffice. A light rain jacket is useful too as we will continue to train in the rain. Football boots are ideal as the sessions will be played on grass but trainers are acceptable in the short term. Please expect them to get a little muddy. A full water bottle (with your daughter's name on it) should be brought to every session. We offer a Parakeets kit consisting of green fleece top; yellow shorts and pink socks which are available to buy.

4. Will sessions take place in bad weather?

Training sessions will be cancelled only when deemed unsafe for play e.g. strong winds, storm conditions or a frozen pitch. Sessions will take place in all other conditions. Your daughter should arrive dressed appropriately for the weather.

5. As a parent or carer, do I need to attend the entire session?

Yes. For player welfare reasons, parents and carers are expected to stay for the duration of each training session.

6. What times do the sessions begin?

Our sessions start at 9.15am (Year 2); 10.15am (Year 1) and 11.15am (Reception). Each session lasts 45 minutes. Players are asked to arrive at least 5 mins before their session to ensure a prompt start at the listed times.

7. Can we book on a week by week basis?

Our training sessions have been designed to cover the key football skills over 8 week blocks so we expect players to attend all 8 sessions. The first session is considered a FREE try-out session for all NEW players meaning there will be no charge for that particular session should the player decide not to continue. Unfortunately, due to set-up costs, it is not possible to offer participation & payment on a week by week basis.

8. Can we still join after a block has started?

Yes. Players are welcome to join a block at any point depending on the number of spaces available. Please contact us for availability.

9. What happens if we can't make a session?

It is the responsibility of the player to attend all sessions within each block. Refunds will not be offered for any sessions missed by players.

10. How much does it cost?

An 8 week block costs £90 per player. The first session is a FREE try-out session for new players.

11. When is payment due?

Payment must be made in full after the FREE try-out session (Week 1) and before the start of the next session (Week 2). Please contact twickenhamparakeets@gmail.com for payment details.

12. What happens when my daughter is older?

At the end of Year 2, Parakeets are given priority to join Twickenham Cygnets FC's U8 age group, which starts with Cygnets Summer School which takes place every year in the weeks before the summer holidays.
